Authors and illustrators invited to Utah Valley University Book Academy

Aspiring authors and seasoned writers are invited to attend Utah Valley University’s Book Academy on Tuesday, Sept. 27. The conference will appeal to writers and illustrators.

The keynote speaker is Heidi Schulz, who had her first published book, “Hook’s Revenge,” in 2012. She sold it to Disney-Hyperion and it is has become a New York Times bestseller, a Bank Street Best Book and is among the 2014 New York Public Library’s Top 100 Titles for Children.

“Those who attend may network with published authors and have the opportunity to learn about a myriad relevant topics ranging from business-related topics to writer-specific inquiries,” said Ivan Mangum, workshops coordinator at UVU.

  • Four Steps to Joyfully Writing a Non-Fiction Book
  • Agents: Do You Need One & How To Get A Good One
  • The 45-Minute Novel

Schulz’s keynote address will begin at 9 a.m. with her book signing at 10 a.m. Morning workshops are from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with lunch and networking at 12:30 p.m. Afternoon workshops run from 1:30-3:30 with closing remarks and another book signing following.
