The Utah Valley University Dance Team recently returned from the NCA/NDA Collegiate Championship in Daytota Beach, Fla., with gold — beating out 25 other schools to win the national title in the Open Dance Division I category.

“The UVU Dance Team has had the goal of becoming national champions for a long time,” said Carly Condie, UVU Spirit Squad program coordinator. “This year we exceeded our expectations with the highest score we have ever received at College Nationals with a 9.84.”

The entire competition consisted of 6,530 athletes on 304 teams from 38 states and four countries. This is the 16th year UVU has competed at the collegiate championship, consistently placing in the top. The Wolverines also placed fifth in the Hip Hop Division I category this year.

“This team’s motto throughout the preparation process was, ‘We are too determined to be defeated,’ and it was true down to the last second,” Condie said. “The outpouring of love and support from other universities on our win was incredible, and we are honored to represent the Division I Title as national champions 2014!”

I would love to see them give another local performance for their fans at the school just like when they won the TV show two years ago. Thanks…
