Utah Regional Ballet, Utah Valley University’s professional ballet company in residency, will present Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” Dec. 14, 16 and 19-21 at the Covey Center for the Arts in downtown Provo, Utah.
Utah Regional Ballet has been performing “The Nutcracker” since the company was founded in 1984 and is the only company in Utah to present the beloved Christmas story with a live orchestra. The cast will include 75 children from Utah Valley.
“The magic if the Nutcracker will once again warm the hearts of families through the Christmas season,” said Jacqueline Colledge, UVU dance faculty and director of Utah Regional Ballet. “This year’s production will feature all of the traditional favorites our audiences have grown to love.”
The Sugarplum Fairy will be performed by Rachelle Brooks, Kaitlyn Potts and Mary Nutall, while Cavalier will be performed by Robert Tyler Burkett, Qing Sun and Owen Gaf. Christopher Young will perform as Herr Drosselmyer, and Clara will be performed by Faith Adams, Madelyn Chenn and Ali Nelson.
In addition to the ballet, the Utah Regional Ballet has partnered with local business Wadley Farms to bring lovers of “The Nutcracker” Clara’s Tea Party. Attendees will meet Father Drosselmeyer, create a Christmas craft, be served a light lunch and have a photo opportunity with Clara. The tea will be held Dec. 7, at Wadley Farms, located at 35 E. 400 North in Lindon, Utah. Call 801-796-7323 for prices and more information.
