Utah Valley University’s Department of Dance presents the Ballroom Dance Company holiday concert “Let Christmas Shine” in the Ragan Theater, Dec. 5-7 at 7:30 p.m.

An annual event, the concert will combine the movement of ballroom dance with dance numbers that center on the festive season and feature a variety of Latin American, Ballroom and American-style dancing along with the visual effects of multimedia.

“We hope individuals and families will start a new tradition of kicking off their holiday season with this Christmas-themed concert each year,” said Paul Winkelman, director of the Ballroom Dance Company. “Although the UVU Ballroom Dance Company has been performing at this time of year for many seasons, the ‘Let Christmas Shine’ concert marks the second year the winter concert will focus almost entirely on the holiday theme.”

Under Winkelman’s direction, the concert will feature many new ideas and innovative elements such as videography that will add a stunning visual element to the colorful costumes and beautiful movement.

“The concert will be a high-energy evening of dance, music and multimedia entertainment that will offer something for every family member,” Winkelman said. “They will leave this event with smiles on their faces and an excitement for the approaching holiday season.”

The UVU Ballroom Dance Company comprises four teams including the Tour Team, the Backup Tour Team and two other backup teams. Almost 100 dancers will come together from the four teams in this concert to showcase many professionally choreographed and student-choreographed pieces.
