Utah Valley University’s Chamber Orchestra will present a special concert, entitled “Thinking Of Someone,” on March 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sorensen Student Center’s Ragan Theater.
“Works in this concert were composed when the composers had a particular person in mind, either as a dedicatee, paying tribute to a great personality, or because the composer was in love,” said assistant professor of music Cheung Chau.
The concert will also feature UVU faculty member Matthew Nelson on clarinet, who will perform Weber’s Concerto in E-flat Minor with the Chamber Orchestra. Nelson has previously performed with the Utah and Houston Symphonies and has been featured at festivals and competitions throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.
The UVU Chamber Orchestra consists of select artists who perform a wide range of repertoire from the 18th century to present. In this small-orchestra setting, members receive in-depth training in technique, stylistic interpretation and ensemble skills.
Tickets for this performance are available at Campus Connection and at the UVU School of the Arts home page.
