Christina Lowe, a Utah Valley University alumna and Miss Utah, was among 15 semifinalists in the 2011 Miss America Pageant broadcast on Saturday night on ABC for Las Vegas. The Midway, Utah, native advanced to the swimsuit round before being eliminated by judges from the scholarship competition. She is the first UVU alumna to participate in the Miss America Pageant.

Crowned Miss Utah in June, Lowe is studying international relations at UVU and has been actively involved in student government, campus voter registration efforts, and is known for her singing talent. After returning to UVU to finish her degree, she hopes to join the Peace Corps and later attend graduate or law school.

Lowe was cheered on Saturday night by well wishers during a viewing party of the Miss America Pageant broadcast held in the Sorensen Student Center.
