One Stop Changes

Advisement Forum,

After careful consideration, and in an effort to improve the student experience, the decision has been made to make a significant change to the One Stop area.  Effective immediately, the One Stop Circle will transition to become an extension of Financial Aid & Scholarships, and current One Stop employees will be moved to fill positions in the Financial Aid, Cashier, Admissions, and the Registrar’s Offices.  The location will no longer be known as One Stop.

As you encounter students with questions, please send them to the appropriate office to answer the questions. Financial aid and scholarship questions should go to Financial Aid & Scholarships (formerly One Stop), Admissions to the Office of Admissions (BA 115), and registration questions, including printing transcripts, to Registration/Records (BA 113).  For tuition and other payments, send students directly to the Cashier (BA 108).

Signage changes and a marketing push are underway and your help is appreciated as we work to change the culture and practice of sending students directly to One Stop.

Sincerely,

Andrew Stone

Update to FYE and Student Retention Office

The First-Year Experience & Student Retention office has gone through a few staff changes to be aware of for contact purposes.

We’ve recently hired Noemy Medina as the Assistant Director for Retention and Completion.  She replaces Tara Ivie who is now the Women’s Success Center Director.  As many of you know, Noemy has worked with our department as a Program Manager for Completion for the last three years.  I am excited to have her in this new positon with a focus on retention and completion data, and to provide resources/reports for advisors and faculty related to retention outreach.  Noemy can be reached at ext. 7408 or noemym@uvu.edu.

We’ve also hired Mayra Powell as our new Program Coordinator for Leave of Absence, starting Nov. 1st.  She replaces Becky Miller who left to be home with her family.  Mayra recently graduated with a bachelor of science degree, in behavioral science, and has been working with Strengthening Families to provide support for families in Utah county.  She is a wonderful addition to our team and will be an excellent resource for our students as they return to UVU.  Mayra can be contacted at ext. 8404 or Mayra.powell@uvu.edu.

Speaking of Leave of Absence, a new website has been launched that we hope will be a great resource for advisors and students.  Take a look when you have a chance at www.uvu.edu/leaveofabsence.  Feel free to send me your feedback if you see a need for changes or improvements.

Flier for Spring 2018 Deadlines

Here in Student Receivables we have created a Quick Reference for Important Payment Deadlines for the upcoming Spring 2018 Semester.

We have found the more information the students have the better the financial decisions they make when paying for their education.   We would love for the information to be available to as many students as possible.  I am including the .pdf files for our flier.  If you find the information on the flier beneficial, please feel free to make the fliers available in your office.

If you would like our office to order your fliers for you, send an email request to KGreen@uvu.edu.  Let us know how many copies you would like (remember, there are 4 fliers per page) and your Banner Index number and we will get them ordered for you through UVU Printing Services.  Note: The approximate cost per 100 fliers (25 sheets cut into 4 sections) is $11.00.
