Trainings This Week

Hi All,

We are excited to be able to join a Live NACADA Webinar tomorrow. Please come join us if your schedule allows! The other two sessions are full, so if you signed up, please remember to come!

Tuesday, September 12th, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

Live Webinar: Building Advisor Competency: Facing Fear and Creating Our Best Professional Selves (1 AEU)

Presenters: Erin Justyna of Texas Tech University and Lisa Laughter of UC Davis

Description: Ever had fear stand in the way of pursuing professional passion? Our presenters are convinced that when individuals become mindful and begin to design their professional identity, free from fear, they create new opportunities and purposeful pathways that lead to greater productivity and fulfillment – and they are excited about having opportunities to share their thoughts and experiences with advising colleagues. The webinar will begin with a discussion of fear’s unique ability to steal potential, stand in the way of dreams, and prevent us from living lives of intentionality and purpose. The webinar will address the pitfalls of living in fear and discuss how to “feel the fear and do it anyway.” They will consider what it means to have a profession of advising as well as what it means to be a “professional” in the field.

Wednesday, September 13th, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

Title: QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training (2 AEUs)

Please attend this training that will give you tools you can implement in your professional and personal lives.

Thursday, September 14th, 10:00 am to 11:00 am

Title: Book Club: Leadership and Self-Deception (1 AEU)

Facilitator: Lisa Giguere, Academic Advisor in the Woodbury School of Business

Abstract: Through a story everyone can relate to about a man facing challenges on the job and in his family, the authors expose the fascinating ways that we can blind ourselves to our true motivations and unwittingly sabotage the effectiveness of our own efforts to achieve success and increase happiness. This extraordinary book will help you learn how to consistently tap into an innate ability that will dramatically improve both your results and your relationships.
