FYI – Wolverine Track Planner Templates

Hi Everyone,

Hopefully you are all familiar with the Planner feature in Wolverine Track. In order to help this feature be as useful as possible, we can create a ‘template’ (or a pre-defined plan) for you to use with new students. Every year, we request the advisors send us these templates so that we can program them into Wolverine Track and make them available for you and your students. We are still missing templates for most programs for the 2012-2013 academic year! Templates will be accepted in any format.  I have attached examples from two types of templates I have received (BSW-SOWK and BA-HIST) which both work.

If nothing has changed since your department last sent templates, please send us an email confirming that your curriculum is the same and to simply re-use the template from the previous year, and we will program it for you.

If you need to view the templates previously submitted for your program for older catalog years, you can do a search to see your program’s previous templates:

1)     On any student, click on the Planner tab

2)     Make sure the first dropdown says —–Add new plan —-, (then click ‘Load’ if this was not already the default plan).

3)     Click ‘Load in a pre-defined plan’ (On the right side, under ‘Advisor Approved’)

4)     In the new pop-up window, click ‘Clear All’

5)     Select search criteria (but leave ‘All Catalog Years’)

6)     Click ‘Search’

7)     If you do not have a 12-13 plan listed for your program, then you need to submit one or let us know to re-use the old one!

8)     If you would like to view a template, you can highlight the template, then click ‘Load into my plan.’ The courses will appear in a plan on the right side. Be careful not to save the plan if you’re just searching to see what courses are listed on the template.

The Deans have requested that I send a list of the programs that are missing templates to Department Chairs the first week of February for any programs that are missing their templates, so please get them to me ASAP!

We are also now accepting templates for student plans for the 2013-2014 school year. Having these templates in place before you meet with students hoping to attend for the 2013-2014 semester will be very helpful to you!

If you do not know what these templates are that I keep nagging you all about or if you have any questions at all, please contact me at wolverinetrack@uvu.edu.

FYI – Admissions for Second Block

Advisement Forum,

Admissions applications for second block are now available.  In response to a request from President’s Cabinet, the Admissions Office has reopened the spring application for students interested in attending UVU for the second block.  Students can apply online at uvu.edu/admissions.  The application opened on Sunday January 20th and will remain open until midnight on February 16th.  Because of the expedited timeline for second block, students will be required to act very quickly in order to complete the application checklist before the February 16th deadline.  Depending on the students individual circumstances we will still require high transcripts, college transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, and Accuplacer testing.  Students with questions about their admissions checklist should contact the Admissions Office.

If you have questions please contact the Admissions Office.  Thank you.

FYI – Enhancements to Advisor Dashboard

Advisors,

We are pleased to announce the implementation of  some enhancements/bug fixes that have been requested by those of you using the Advisor Dashboard.

Following are the changes/enhancements that have been made over the last month:

1)      Modify student in session error- If you attempt to start an advising session with a student that is in session with another Advisor you will be given a notice that the student is already in session with “Advisor Name”

2)      Ability to look up a non- Admitted student- If you meet with a student that has applied, but has not been admitted yet, you will be presented with an admissions checklist showing what a student needs to complete before they are admitted (ACT scores, Transcripts. Etc.).

3)      Added a visit type of “other” in addition to the visit types of phone, email, and in-person.

4)      Allow resume session without entering students UV ID# again – If you are in session with a student and you get timed out of Banner (which should be 30 minutes of inactivity) when you re-login to banner, and click on “Advisor Dashboard” you will be taken back to the student you were in session with, without requiring you to re-enter their ID#.

5)      Added Transfer only GPA to dashboard – You will now see three different GPA’s in dashboard, these were added due to structured enrollment policies, but they also have value beyond that. The three GPA’s you will see are:

  1. UVU Cumulative GPA
  2. Transfer/UVU Combined GPA: This will show to values, the first being just their transfer GPA, the second being a combination of their transfer GPA and their UVU GPA

6)      Comments not showing for certain students in dashboard – It was discovered that some of our students had comments in Banner, without any text associated with the comment which was causing an error and resulted in no comments showing up for the student. we have fixed this so the text “blank comment” will show for that comment, and you will see all the other comments.

Thank you to those of you that have reported issues that you have encountered, and suggested enhancements to the system, so that it better meets you needs. If you have additional problems, concerns, or suggestions, please to do not hesitate to contact me!

P.S. If you would like to learn more about using the dashboard, please attend the upcoming training session that will be held on Tuesday, January 29 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Thanks,
