FYI – Sub-4-Santa

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I wanted to give you an update on our Sub4Santa drive this year. We have been assigned a family with five children their ages range from 11 ½ to almost 4 years old, 2 girls and 3 boys. Currently we have raised half of our goal in funds toward their Christmas. We only have a short time left before we need to be purchasing the gifts. Please bring your donations to LC403 or if you can’t make it yourself I will be happy to come to you. I would like to thank those of you who have already generously given this year.

Let’s make this a Christmas to remember for this family.

Much Appreciation,
Rachael Solomon

FYI – Int’l Education Essay Contest Follow-Up

Hello UVU Advisors!

Each year, through our International Education Essay Contest, International Study Programs provides the winning advisor with an opportunity to travel for one week with one of our Study Abroad programs, all expenses paid. This trip provides the advisor a chance to witness what the students are engaging in while on a UVU Study Abroad program. After the advisor returns from the trip, he/she can share his/her adventure with students as well as colleagues. We want everyone to be excited about having an international education experience!

Here is the information for the 3rd Annual International Education Essay Contest:

This year’s question: “In what ways will I, as a UVU advisor, help students overcome hurdles (emotional, academic, financial, etc.) and transform their dream to participate in an international education experience into a reality?”

Due Monday, January 9 by 5:00 p.m.

Please submit your essay to Marianna Henry, International Study Programs, at marianna.henry@uvu.edu, with the following criteria:

Sub-4-Santa

The Holiday Season is upon us and once again we are asking for your help to bring some
holiday joy to a family in need.

The Advisement Forum looks forward to the opportunity to support this program each
year.  Last year we had the opportunity to help two large families as well
as a couple of children from the Angel Tree in the University Mall. Hopefully
we can do that or more this year. Please join us in the spirit of giving, ask
your office mates, family and friends if they would like to contribute to the
cause and donate today!

Drop off your cash donation to Rachael Solomon LC 403 or bring it to the next
Advisement Forum!

If you have any questions please call x6556 Thank you.

FYI – Global Intercultural Requirement

There have been some misconceptions about the GI
requirement going around campus.  Please
read the following:

1.  All students
seeking a Bachelor’s degree and following a 2008 catalog year or more recent,
have to complete the GI requirement.

2.  UVU GI courses
all end with a “G” in the course number.  No other UVU course will be considered for
this requirement, and it is not grandfathered.
(The student will not get credit for an older course that was not a
“G” course at the time of completion.)

3.  Students who
began at UVU prior to FALL of 2008 may be elligible for a GI waiver.  See the Graduation office for approval of the
exception.

4.  All transfer
credit, unless previously approved, will need to be approved by the GI
committee.  This area is under review
until further notice.  I will notify the
Advisement Forum when the new decisions have been made.

If you have questions, please contact Margaret Bellon
