The GE Distribution listing has been updated to include in the FINE ARTS area that if a student takes THEA 1023 they also need to have THEA 1025 (the lab) to go with it. A student must register for both as the computer enforces that issue and will not allow them to just take one course.

However, when using the Planner in Wolverine Track, you will pull in a 2 credit course for THEA 1023 and must also add THEA 1025 to complete the GE requirement. It has been added on the listing that was sent attached to the Advisement Forum via email. If you did not recieve the email please contact Rachael Solomon.

FYI – Registering for Learning Communities

Some of you may have noticed that when you attempt to register for the Learning Communities, you get an error. LuAnn spent this morning finding a solution to the problem.

When students sign up for a Learning Community you will need to do a “Linked Course Override” for both sections.

To make it a bit easier, I am including the CRN’s for the Learning Communities below.

Thank you for your patience with the Fall 2011 Learning Communities. This is a pilot program and we are learning as we go.

Courses and CRNS:
ANTH 101G and DANC 1010: 21365 and 10438
ENGL 1010 and CLSS 1100: 10885 and 10761
ENGL 1010 and ENGL 2250: 10909 and 18846
ENGL 1010 and PHIL 1000: 10926 and 21578
PSY 1010 and CLSS 1000: 21857 and 21855
ENGH 0990 and GEO 1010: 12502 and 21856
MATH 1050 and ENGR 1000: 21983 and 11060

FYI – New feature in Wolverine Track

A new feature has been added to Wolverine Track for students that do not have a concentration declared with their major but should. An error box will display beneath the Student Information block that says “CONC block not found but is required. This audit is not complete. Please see your academic advisor to have your declared major reviewed.” This message replaces the “Percent Complete” bar in hopes that students will not think that they are more complete than they really are.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

The second announcement, “UVU Graduation Rehearsal,” has an incorrect time. Rehearsal will be held at 2:00 PM on April 28 not from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM! It is not our policy to conduct rehearsals during finals.

The Graduation Office greatly appreciates your efforts to provide students with accurate information. Thank you.

FYI – Corrections–Learning Communities Fall 2011

Good Morning All,

I am excited for the launch of the Learning Communities and appreciate all that has been done to develop the project.  I do need to make one very important correction to the document send out yesterday afternoon.  Learning Communities are NOT courses– for example, on the table,  the first LC is called EARTH WRITING.  That is not a course name. It is the title of the Learning Community.  Students will not find the name of the LC in the schedule– they look for the CRNS for the two classes, Geology 1010 and Basic Writing and Reading II.

Please replace the document sent out yesterday with the one attached below.  The changes make it clear that the students are registering for two courses that are linked.

Thanks and hope you are loving the sun for a few hours!

FYI – Learning Communities Fall 2011

Learning Communities registration begins tomorrow! Please see the attachment in the email announcement or email me for a list of the Learning Communities along with times and descriptions. The marketing materials are not ready yet, but I meet with Marketing tomorrow to create them.

The enrollment procedure for the Learning Communities will go as follows:

All the sections are currently set to 0 enrollment, but Eva will open up one third of the total max cap on Wednesday, April 13; the second third on June 1st; and on July 1st she will open up the remaining seats and add wait list to all sections. You can see the total max cap on the attached list.

Students will NOT be able to sign up for one class and not the other. They are linked and they must sign up for both.

Thank you for all of your help with this!
